crash and burn

On Saturday it was Green Skate.
For me it was more like bloody red skate.

Anyway it was TONS of fun, speed and slides.
I'll bring you more (and more pleasant) pictures later.

My arm is still pretty swollen and kinda has constant weird pain flowing through bruise to bruise. Dunno if I should see a doc or not. Maybe it's just the bruises healing?

As my coworker said today quoting some US marine something...
"pain is just weakness leaving the body"

The weather's great. Go out and skate!
I'm outta work and off to meet my visitor: mummy!

11 things

my first longboarding bruises and ripped jeans!

1. Jos sun pitäis lähtee huomenna matkoille mihin tahansa, minne matkustaisit?
• Suomeen.

4. Missä paikassa tunnet olosi kaikista parhaaks?
• lämpimässä suihkussa on kyllä melkeinpä aina hyvä olla. hyviä paikkoja on paljon, mutta parhaasta en kyllä täysin näin nopeasti ajateltuna tiedä.

5. Kuinka monta tuntia päivässä vietät aikaa tietokoneella?
• 8 tuntia menee aika pitkälti töissä, jonka jälkeen en nykyään pahemmin jaksa konetta availla ja usein jätänkin sen töihin odottamaan seuraavaa päivää. (siinä yksi syy bloggailutahdin hidastumiseen)

6. Kaks parasta asiaa Suomen kesässä?
• valo ja järvivesi

7. Mitä ohjelmia katot telkkarista?
• en mitään, koska en on omista telkkaria. netistä tulee katsottua aina silloin tällöin the big bang theorya ja gossip girliä. dvdltä taas joskus klovnia.

8. Millasen puhelimen omistat?
• nokia c6-01

10. Erikoisin paikka missä oot nukkunut?
• oonkohan mä nukkunu niin erikoisissa paikoissa..mmm. puumaja, rappukäytävä, kylmän saunan lauteilla, parveke, ritz hotelli (never thought i'd sleep there;). Ei nyt muistu mieleen mitään 'pahvilaatikossa autossa matkalla viipuriin' -tarinoita, vaikkakin toi kuulostaa enemminki kidnappaukselta!

1. Mikä on upein kokemuksesi elämässä so far?
2. Mitkä asiat ovat jääneet mieleesi 90-luvusta?
3. Mikä on mieleenpainuvin tutustumisesi uuteen ihmiseen?
4. Onko sinulla erikoisia tapoja/piirteitä? Mitä?
5. Paras asia, jossa koet onnistuneesi?
6. Unelma, jonka haluaisit toteuttaa?
7. Mitä sinulle tulee mieleen sanasta vesimeloni?
8. Asia, jonka opit eilen?
9. Mitä aiot tehdä kesällä?
10. Lempi leikkisi lapsena?

Duracell-pupu.

Oikein super energistä ja iloista viikonloppua. Mulla ainakin tekemistä riittää!

Inception (NO)

Inception @Kulturpuben, Lillestrøm
12.5.2012

Don't get me wrong, were not talking about the movie here.
This was a night of wide legged pants, flowers and colors, long hair and rock.
19-20 year old Norwegian guys playing like they were born with instruments in their hands, a singer with moves like Elvis and magnetic charisma that captivates the room.

Their influences include Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Rainbow, Pink Floyd...the list goes on.
Rock lovers, this is something for you.

Find Inception online:

What a bunch of entertainers. Amazing!

ps. come on, you just gotta love these pants!

Oslo football experience

The 1st of May is a public holiday in Norway just like in Finland.
Labor day.

The day itself isn't that special in Norway, neither is the day/night before.

Unlike in Finland people go more or less mental and have the craziest parties ever.
It's a fun time, I must say. A couple years back we spent May 1st (in Finnish we call the day Vappu) in Helsinki with friends from school and some of our friends who had been at our Uni as exchange students. That was the funnest Vappu ever. Dressed up silly and wearing our student overalls (in Uni we get overalls in different colors depending on what you study and then we collect all kinds of badges and stuff on them), jumping rope outside of a bar, having a picnic in Kaivari, watching a naked man ride his bike, staying at the Omenahotel and getting to know a bunch of random people. Ohmy.

This year was different.
I was taken to a football match. The weather was amazing, t-shirt based, and the atmosphere at Bislett stadium was...well, these Norwegians love their football! It was fun, no matter how I like to complain (joke) about the boringness of the sport - unless you yourself are on the field. I like to play, not to watch.

Vålerenga - Lyn

My first attendance at a Norwegian football match. I doubt it was my last as I'm surrounded by football fanatics, also known as 'football idiots'. ;-)

xxoo
Linda

ps. maybe something about the match itself? ;-) Lyn plays a lower league and therefore Vålerenga was supposed to be waaay better. Anyway, Vålerenga won 2-1 but Lyn totally dominated the game. And apparently the Vålerenga and Lyn fans are huge enemies.
Lyn also got bankrupt some years back and something something...I was told so much information that please excuse me if all the 'facts' above are wrong. That could totally happen. :-D

First bunch of Oslo visitors

One and a half weeks back I thought summer was here. Well it was but just for that weekend.
Lately we've been given rain and cold weather. A few OK days in between.

Anyway!
We had our first guests visiting. All the way from...Finland!
Mr. Lauri, Mr. Jonas, Ms. Riikka, Ms. Hilla and for one night also Ms. Anni! Så hyggelig = so nice!

We spent a lot of time outside just walking around and enjoying the weather.
My blog hasn't really introduced you to Oslo yet - only Vigelandsparken.
You might recognize the statues from this post?

On Saturday we had a lovely salad dinner at our place before heading out to Blå, a local underground club. Really cool venue, really lousy music+atmosphere that night. The 150,- NOK to get in felt like robbery. Never have I paid that much. Well, I am a penny-pincher.
The area is super cool, I shall get pictures to prove one day. Meanwhile you will have to do with the two below. ;-)

Sunday, we headed off back to the Blå area where the others were enjoying the sunny day by checking out the Sunday market. Ingar and me had to flee of pretty fast as we went to pick up my primary school friend Anni! I think we hadn't seen eachother for 10years?! How cool is that, to get her as a visitor since so long! I was so surprised but happy about her contact.
We had sushi and thai. Ate Ben&Jerry's and watched the lamest movie ever - New Year's Eve.

A cool bunch of guys. Jätkät.

Igår

Yesterday was nice.
I had a lovely day at work.

Was happy with my eyelash extensions that I got done the day before, Monday.

Popped by at the gym for a quick workout.

Continued to play tennis. Very successfully. Not. But tennis is fun!

I got my Oslo bike card in the post!

And Karen was sending me pictures on Whatsapp from our exchange year in Haarlem. Ah, those times!

There was also a free outdoor gig we were about to head off to but it started raining.

Life! <3

Seventh Day - The Cuba Diary

Day Seven: Hello Trinidad - pineapple time!

From Santiago de Cuba our journey continued to Trinidad.
Due to the trouble with getting on the Santiago bus we had bought Trinidad tickets in advance. Wouldn't have needed to. The bus to Trinidad was nearly empty with only a few tourists.
Once again the journey was long. And cold.

We arrived in Trinidad early in the morning, 7am to be precise. The lovely lady from our previous accommodation had reserved a casa de la particular from Trinidad and arranged everything for us. Once we stepped out of the bus in Trinidad, we could see a man with his bike and note saying something like 'Linda & Sanni' but in reality was not...unfortunately I forgot how he'd spelt Sanni. But it was funny. :-)

Trinidad was yet again a fully different side to Cuba. The houses were all cute and colorful. No high buildings. Two floors maximum, except in the old town some three floored ones.
It was like going way back in time - the streets were made of cobblestone, people rode horses and the whole atmosphere was very cosy village-like. Though, a lot more tourists than in Santiago!
Oh and Trinidad was the most cheapest city/village of our whole trip. I bought hand made spoon rings for 3pesos (2,1€). In Italy I paid 15€.

After breakfast, waiting for our room to be available, visiting an artist and his gallery, a 2 hour nap and buying tickets on a paradise island trip for the next day, we decided to spend the rest of the evening on the beach.

We got a cheap taxi to take us and pick us up a few hours after. Really nice, super easy. Good price.

The beach, Playa Ancon, was nice. Nothing super special, but nice.
At least it was quiet and we could be alone without anyone wanting to take pictures with us.

In the evening we headed off to discover the old town.

...got lost and found ourselves from a Cuban houseparty?!?

We were trying to head back to our 'home' but could not find the way anymore. My head based navigator was spinning from East to West without a clue how  to get home. It was getting dark. We were getting hungry.

We heard the 'pego' song and headed towards the house it was coming from.
It was Mr. Goldtooth's 21st Birthday.
We were invited to join, take pictures of them (and us), to dance and drink rum.
After a moment they convinced us and we found ourselves dancing at a Cuban house party which literally had people from babies to the older generation. Crazy. Fun.
They laughed at my stupid dance attempts. I laughed because one of the older men was offering Sanni and me pineapple and rum. He himself was so rummed up that his eyes were rolling around. Maybe it would have been for the best if we'd taken some of that rum of his.

Hunger attacked way too much, plus getting home started to feel impossible in the pitch-black Trinidad. We had to excuse ourselves and leave, though we were offered to have a meal and stay at the party. The meal would have been pineapple. Instead of eating at their house they then agreed we could leave. On one condition: we'd take their present, the pineapple, with us. :-D cuties!

We headed back to the center of the old town and found a restaurant that still happened to be open. Or actually we thought they opened it for us as they saw we were looking in, but a couple of other people came in after us, too.

Somehow we found our way home after, somehow.

Trinidad is beautiful.
