Thames festival

Now that I'm done with posting about the far past, lets come a bit closer in time to the weekend of the Thames Festival

The festival took place during Saturday and Sunday 10.-11.9.

Saturday I left unattended but on Sunday I walked all the way from home to the Temple station via a sightseeing friendly detour.

Is it just me or do others also think London Bridge is much lamer than Tower Bridge? In my opinion London Bridge should be so much more amazing, cooler, bigger, special and prettier! After all, it does have so many songs named after/dedicated to/about it. Are there songs about the more beautiful bridge, Tower Bridge?

Recognize?

When I got to the Temple, Jaleh was waiting there with her friends. Giving me the London Eye. Ha ha ha!

But what did we actually go for?
On Sunday the festival ended with a carnival and huge firework show. All really impressive!

The carnival was long and lasted for ages! People were dancing and shakin' like crazy in the smallest clothes as I was standing stiff like a true Finn and shaking of coldness. And I was yet clothed! A few really impressive decorations passed by, as well as cutest little kids dancing what not from salsa to hiphop.

The fireworks were gorgeous. Maybe now I don't have to go to see the New Years fireworks because this event surely made me feel like it already were NYE.
And I have to say that photographing the fireworks was even more than watching them. Have to say, though pictured by myself, that the picture above is just crazy-cool! The colors, details, leaf bordering...magical. One of my favorite shots so far. How do you like it?

The Thames Festival would have been full of all kinds of events and all kinds of cultures attending and creating it, but my debut time was fairly poor. If you happen to be around in London next time it's on, do go have a look at what there is to offer. As I took the Apostles ride to the city I passed various interesting stalls and acts.

Now time for bed, so I'll be all energetic in the morning as we go buy Jaleh something exciting from Camden!

Covered in clay

I missed a post (see how late I'm running with my blog posting! 4weeks!)...again.
I really need to get this thing going again. SO much to tell! Crazy.

Anyway, as the subjects of this post are ancient, I'll just put up some pictures and let the images describe it all.

Basically this blog post you are reading now is all about what happened after THIS (Jyväskylä) and before THIS (Helsinki and kick of to London).

Exciting times!

Friends and food

Firstly I have to say I haven't had the energy to blog after working 8-9hours in front of the computer every day. When you get home, the computer screen isn't exactly the first thing you want to see - again. Blinded by the screen. ;)
But what has slowed down my blogging rhythm most is the picture uploading speed to Photobucket, which is non-existant. I can upload one picture at a time and it takes 5min (if it succeeds to upload itself) which doesn't really motivate me too much.
The more technology develops, the more you ask from it I guess!

A lot has happened, a lot is to happen. But let me yet again go back to summer of Finland 2011. Even though it has been a while... better late than neverrrr.

Sooooo!

On the 30th of August Karen, Jonas, Ingar and me started the engine of my ex car. Off to Helsinki.
It was byebye again, Varkaus.

Safely we got to Helsinki, where we parked the car and headed off...shopping. Or shall I say - the guys went shopping. Me and Karen just..stalked them.

The guys had been talking about the amazing Finnish football god, Teemu Pukki, for the past week and guess what they talked about for the following week, too? About how they met their friend, Mr. Pukki, in Finland and had a chat with him. Yes, once we parked the car in Helsinki, by the Sonera football arena, Mr. walked right passed us. And I&J obviously went to give him some positive comments.
Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of this unforgettable moment.

After shopping the guys wanted to test out the Fazer cafe, where Hilla came to join us!
Yummy!

After a tasty and traditional Finnish, Fazer cafe, moment the guys wanted to do a little more shopping.
Interesting how they wanted to spend their last hours searching for clothes and yet again: not buying anything. I do not intend to go shopping with them in the future unless I get paid. I'd rather learn how to play the didgeridoo. But that would actually be pretty cool. (We were practicing the technique one day at work, when a lovely Mr. Matt came by who told us he knows how to play it! The technique is actually super difficult. Try breathing out with your mouth and breathing in at the same time with your nose. Crazyyy.)

It was time to head off to the airport and say buh-bye after the 2week awesomeness in Finland.

In the evening we still went for dinner with Eve and Hilla to an amazing Nepalese restaurant!

The restaurant is on Annankatu but I can't remember the name! They make supersupersuper lekker as in tasty food. A highly suggested place to eat out in Helsinki. The restaurant is on the Kamppi end of Annankatu, near the Fressi -gym. YUM!

We ended the day with watching a girly movie accompanied with ice-cream. I guess the movie wasn't that mindblowing as I have no memory what so ever about the title, or what happened...hmm.

but...
the next morning, before heading off to the airport to catch our flight...Karen and I did something we thought the guys, Jonah and Inkku, would be jealous of. ;)

JKL Baby

After the cottage weekend it was time to go to show Karen, Jonas and Ingar what my study city, Jyväskylä, looked like, as well as meet up with Chris! I also had to do some final arrangements regarding my internship and finalization of exchange papers.

The first night we went round to Jonas' and Lauri's place. As the guys enjoyed a few refreshments, Karen and I were kicking it off with Smackdown! BAMMM!

Jyväskylä provided us the greatness of meeting yet again so many lovelies.
Driving passed my old home made me wanna just go 'back to the days' (as if it were long ago, 1.5years) when me and Ansku were neighbors, school was a daily thing, student organization Sauma kept me busy and student life was at its best. How come time goes by so fast?

As J-Lo is a fan of climbing, we went to check out the Hutunki indoor climbing facilities. The place where I did my first climbs with Vilja and Liisa! Memories, memories.

Next morning; run at Laajavuori.

...followed by bringing Chris all his stuff that came to Finland in my car!

After all the morning activities, it was time for breakfast. What would have been a better place for that than Pessi's Shasa smoothiebar! The man himself was present to make us our magic drinks.
Peek and have a look at Pessi's blog here. (In Finnish)
We got a taste of chocolate and fresh fruit mix!
All good, all good.

Linda

...sorry for the messy post. I'm just dead tired and therefore sleep calls me now.

ps. How do you like the new banner? I want to change it a bit when I get a real Linda in London picture. But for now, let it be. The Friday street was such a coincidence to find, but a must to take a picture of. (Oh, how that weekday just connects me with Rebecca Black time after time.) And what goes for the fireworks...I think New Years came early this year, since last weekend's Thames festival fireworks were crazy! More about that later.
