Week 29

On the week before my Oslo trip I was up to this and that:

Granny-Linda berry picking

Testing the new Finnish products (e.g. this salty liquorice ice-cream) that I'd missed when being away in Holland. Works for me! But I have to buy one for Karen when she comes over. Fazer Salmiakki ice-cream add tells you all: here.

Late night fog drive.

Tampere and the Särkänniemi amusement park.

Getting rid of 2/3 of my closet at the flea market of Tammela, Tampere. Great success it was! And for once I'm happy for getting rid of all the stuff I had. No matter how cute and perfect all those pieces of material were.

Tampere flower week.

Visiting Shasa for the first time (Tampere) with Anni. Amazing raw cake and smoothie of the day. Superlicious! Shasa's webpage here.

Going to the movies with Milja, Taru and Juha to see the Hangover part 2! FunFUnFUN!

...and then OFF TO OOO SLOOO!

Summers just get better and better. I never want that time of the year to end. Could this last forever?

Peezy and Lindaline

On Tuesday 17th I was privileged to pick up the one and only Peezy-Petra, my dear tutor, dear friend, dear sister, dear go-bing (yes, bingo is one of our+Ansku's serious hobbies) third member and dear everything.

As she arrived in the morning we decided to take off to Amsterdam for the day.

Our first destination was the Jewish museum where we received the best hosting ever.
The door was opened by a lovely older lady, who welcomed us in with the biggest smile and warmest looks. She guided us where to leave our jackets and where to get free tour phones from.
"Girls, lets take a picture of you here."
"Girls, where did you leave your jackets? Lets take a picture of you in front of that spot."
"Girls, I love taking pictures. You two are so lovely, beautiful young girls that it is so nice to take photos of you. My hobby is taking photos."
The woman was just adorable.

We began our tour downstairs to the museum thinking that we were getting VIP guidance as the lady showed us where everything was. We checked out an extra exhibition and later the woman came to us, took our hands and passed us a couple of mints which she claimed she had nicked from the cafeteria just for us. First Finnish thought: "Why is she acting so nice, is she trying to drug us!"
The harmless lady let us continue our museum tour in peace, reminding us to go back to her if anything was wrong or we had questions.

We didn't find the museum as interesting as we expected it to be. At least it was an experience and we learnt something new.
E.g. something about this man: Baruch Spinoza. And that Mr. Louis Bonaparte, Napoleon's bro, used to be the king of the Netherlands.

After the Jews in the Netherlands -museum we went to my favorite café of couuurse. We had to hurry, as it was already 5pm and Vennington closes at 5. Thankfully they kept it open so that we could order and get our tasty food and smoothies!

From Vennington we went to Anne Frank's house. I had already visited it with my mum but it was nice to go again, as it really is a good museum. Thankfully the queue wasn't too long this time, and we got in after a 15min wait. The waiting did feel long though, counting all the x's and o's the couple in front of us were giving to eachother! Oh my. We were planning on doing some interesting interruption.

We met up with Alex and Yana to go check out the RLD, La Place of the library (where I had never been before. wow the Amsterdam library is a-mazing!) and a movie, Arthur.

And about Arthur, ah, I can't remember. I was really unfocused and tired during the movie. But I remember it was funny and...I just need to see it again before giving more comments. Some jokes were pretty harsh but funny. Jennifer Garner had a role that really made me dislike her, though. What a witch role.

Lovely day, lovely people.

Water For Linda, Anni and Elephants

Lets go back a few weeks to when Anni was here.

So on Saturday the 7th we had the International Boom Boom Boom Beer Parade.

Good Morning, Sunshine! picture from Anni

On Sunday it was resting day. Gosh our feet felt dead. All worth it. Was superb.
We did head for a short walk around Haarlem+Overveen and went for a smoothie nearby Elswout.

Wasn't a happy ending, though! The birds in Holland seem to have a problem with me. You can just guess what happened when sitting under a tree where a birdie bird (effin kääkkä) was making itself feel comfortable in. Yes, thankfully I had drank my smoothie already!

Monday 9th
it was Anni's time to go and do the first and last shopping in Amsterdam. Not enough that the evening was pooped but Monday morning didn't start that pleasantly either.

I kind of managed to pull half of my hair out. NICE.

To make me feel better, I got a nice hair-do from Anni who has become my nro1 favorite hairstylist haha.

In Amsterdam we did a little shopping and I might also have found something nice for myself...I think this summer I'll be into colors! Bought the cutest purple pants from River Island, which are already a top favorite.

We went to eat at La Place and chill around the canals before heading to the movies in the evening.

We went to see Water for Elephants at the Pathé Tuschinski -theater. Reasons why: a) it was in the main "Grote zaal" b) hadn't seen it before c) Jenni had told Anni it's a great movie and Jenni's favorites most often are the same as ours.

And well, the big hall was amazing. Beautiful! Cozy! And funnily suited the movie really well due to colors and the circus style.

In my opinion Water for Elephants was nice. Wasn't the best movie ever but totally worth seeing. Some parts really creeped me out, as I'm really sensitive for all kinds of scenes where people/animals are mistreated and abused. I also dislike the toenail -scene kind of ones that e.g. Black Swan has, and poking an elephant with a stick that makes the animal bleed (Water for Elephants) is also one of those horrors. Makes me shiver with disgust.
Anywhooo, all the romantic drama is just lovely, and WFE succeeded in that.

It was time to head back to Haarlem for a good nights sleep before an early wake-up to catch Anni's flight earlyearlyearly in the morning!

We had great days, great weather and great memorizing of earlier years. Woaah..haha.

JP AND ANSKU! and Thor the movie

On Tuesday morning, the 26th of April, my mother left back home to Finland.

I had a few hours time to wash my laundry, go and get my car repaired, enjoy the weather at the beach and make everything ready for my next guests.

In the evening, Ansku and JP arrived!
Me and Heikki went to pick them up and I was so so so happy to see them. I superly enjoyed the week we had together. Funfunfunfun as Rebecca Black would say.

Tuesday was a chill, staying in, day as I had school in the morning and we were all slightly tired. We did go check out the first "Linda and Heikki suggest" -tourist attraction: planes as they were setting off!

On Wednesday
we (Ansku, JP, Jonas and me) went to see a movie, Thor, at the Amsterdam Arena Pathé theatre. It was both 3D and IMAX. JP being a fan of movies was reallyreally excited about the movie but me and Ansku were kind of notsointerested about especially the theme and genre of the movie.
3D is something that I just do not enjoy. First of all wearing those glasses is just uncomfortable as they are most often sliding off my face and secondly I don't enjoy as the images jump too close to me, to my private zone haha.

Thor turned out to be a success. Me and Ansku enjoyed it a lot. Especially the humor! Oh man, genius. JP on the other hand was really upset..."what a boring movie".

I won't give away anything, so I'll just suggest YOU to go and check out the film yourself.
Watching it in 3D...well, that I wouldn't do. But if you are into 3D stuff, then sure.
And what the IMAX hype was all about - that I don't understand. I guess I have to study about IMAX slightly more so I can realize what makes IMAX...IMAX.

Thor on IMDB here. It has been rated with a 7,6 which for an IMDB rate I would call pretty goodstuffs.

After the movie we popped by the ESN Pre-Queensday event for a while to say hi to new and old exchangies. How nice it was to see Eveliina again!

The next days to come...
